Long weekend away

We spent the long weekend, Memorial Day, up in Anacortes with our great friends from the southend. Sara and the girls were wonderful company and we had some good ol' fashioned rainy day fun!

Kelsey and her mom had a garage sale on Friday and Saturday and it poured! It was pretty miserable but we made some good money for our junk :) Kelsey and Tami sold a ton of Mackinley's baby clothes that he outgrew, it was sad but cleansing.

On Sunday we packed up the kids and headed to Friday Harbor, we barely made the ferry because no one wanted to get out of bed. We enjoyed lunch and bought a few things for the kids before heading back to have dinner at in Anacortes.

I don't think we have any pictures from the weekend...it all went by so fast! Tomorrow we are headed to the Cougar Alumni night at the Mariners! It will be Mac's first big sports game so I hope he's ready. We have a cute Cougar jersey for him to wear and Sara made him a cool blankie for the occasion.

It's time...

to become seriously involved in this blog, or give up! I'm not sure who stops by to read it but it would be nice to have an account of what goes on in our lives with little Mac. So, if you are a regular visitor expect to see some regular posts.

Mackinley started swim lessons last week and he loves the pool! Most of the time I think he would rather just pull on mama's bathing suit straps but he gets some good splashing time in. Mama and Mac have been trying to get mommy in the water but she seems to enjoy watching from the bleachers.

We also spent our first stint in the hospital. Mac had an episode of vomitting and low blood sugar which led to many tests and a 3 day hospital stay. It was never determined if the vomitting caused the low blood sugar or the other way around. Mac seems fully recovered and very happy to be out of that dang "jail crib".

Kelsey booked a site for Mackinley's first birthday party...it's still a few months out but we wanted to make sure we got the site we wanted. Mama thinks it will be a pirate theme but we are still up in the air as we are not big on character themes for parties, toys and clothes.

We are all hoping the sun will decide to come out for more than an hour a day so we can enjoy some nice outside time! Until then we are keeping busy with books and toys and naps.

We're back!

What a long hard...and rewarding...5 months it has been! Mackinley was born on September 13, 2009, a whole 15 days early. Kelsey went out to brunch with her best friend Linnie that morning and Linnie called it - she said, you are having this baby this weekend. We will both learn to listen to our intuitive friends from now on :)

Mackinley was born healthy and alert at 6:03am and after a botched assessment with our labor nurse we had a rough few days in post pardom. It will be a life lesson to all of us that even though they wear a uniform and work in a hospital...they don't always have a brain. A serious word to the wise...if your labor & delivery nurse at Swedish is named Wendy...run, run far and fast and don't stop until you find another nurse!!!

We celebrated a wonderful Thanksgiving, Kelsey's birthday, a magical Christmas and a happy New Year with our new little guy, it was quite a way to end 2009. Mackinley is now 6 days from turning 5 months old and we can't believe he's been with us for so long, the days go by so quickly it feels like he was born last week. Well minus the sleep deprivation. He has hit all of his milestones and seems to think both moms are pretty funny right now. We are just working through this last month of "little baby" time before we start rice cereal...I guess that means they are no longer newborns :(

Kelsey and Mac spend their days singing and playing and taking walks with ladies from our PEPS group. We also joined The Little Gym and while it was kinda pricey it seems like great fun for the next 20 weeks. We have been having fun with our neighbors Lisa and her baby Ava who was born just weeks after Mac. I hope we can be neighbors for a while because we think they will be great playmates.

Tami has been busy at work and finally finished her last certificate class for the time being! If you have been hanging out with us you know how exciting that is for all three of us!!!!

Hips and heartburn and fibroids oh my!

Kelsey has been losing sleep and in a lot of pain moving through this part of the pregnancy. It seems like sleeping on one side or the other is taking it's toll on her hips and she walks like an old lady sometimes! Her fibroid is starting to "roam" as the baby grows and it doesn't hurt directly but it feels like it is wrenching her uteris around. The heartburn has been the least of our worries and has been very managable.

We are both very excited for this weekend! The nursery will get a coat of paint and we are heading to the aquarium with Sara and Elaine and our two beautiful nieces to see the fishies. Hopefully one of us will remember to take some pictures because we haven't documented much in the last few months.

Tonight Kelsey is going to see Il Divo in concert with her mom and Tami gets to find a quiet place to study :)

The month of May...

Tami and Kelsey enjoyed a week of sun and fun in Kauai with Kelsey's mom and her good friend Marti. Most of our time was spent laying on the beach or by the pool, I don't think we even had the energy to do any site seeing! Kelsey got pretty burned the first day, pregnancy does weird things to your skin, and spent a day nursing swollen burned feet and ankles.

It was a tough adjustment back to the real world after getting back from Hawaii but we managed. Kelsey ended up leaving her job on May 15th, as many of you know it was a hostile and oddly stress filled enviroment. We both felt that the baby's health was more important than staying there and it was very impowering to leave.

The baby's room is almost ready for it's grand transformation. Our good friend Elaine is coming to paint...mostly because Tami hates to paint and Kelsey can't while she's growing the baby. We are very greatful to her for this. Her partner Sara is bringing the girls and the 3 of them and Kelsey will be headed to the Seattle Aquarium to keep busy! After this project is done we can move the furniture in, as soon as it arrives, and get to work putting away all of Mackinley's clothes. We are both getting very excited!!

It's a...

BOY! We both wanted a girl but knew it was a boy for about the last 4 weeks. Kelsey even started calling the baby "he" a few weeks ago. We are both still in shock but very excited. Of course after our appointments yesterday and dinner with Heather and Matt to celebrate we hit up Babies-r-Us for some boy geared fun!

Here's a picture of our little one's foot. We can hardly wait till September to meet him :)

Long Overdue Post!

Today is the day of our "big ultrasound" as everyone calls it and Kelsey realized we never posted a picture of the first ultrasound.
While we are still pretty hopeful we could find out it's a girl we are perfectly happy and adjusted to having a boy. If you know anything about our process to conceive you know our desires for a girl and the hurdles we felt knowing it could be a boy. Either way we are both so excited for this afternoon!
